The drama of fertilization and development is explored by laboratory modules using sea urchin eggs/sperm and a web site developed by teachers and Stanford University researchers.

How To Use This Site:

There are two main sections: Labs and Support.

Labs all have to do with using sea urchins as a model system for understanding gametes - embryos - baby sea urchins and experiments on what affects fertilization & development, and finally on human ecological/environmental effects on sea urchins.

Support is materials, information, and lessons that help in regards to understanding the labs.

Virtual Urchin is a sister site that uses FLASH instead of sea water to help with all of this.
